Submissions Guidelines

Ego Park is interested in presenting challenging work that contributes to the current conversations in contemporary art, in particular through supporting emerging artists. The gallery is usually booked around 4-6 months in advance, but we are always interested in viewing new work. Due to the overwhelming response to open submissions, we are currently only accepting proposals via email. We suggest that an artist or curator first contact the gallery with a brief introductory statement with a link to images (rather than attachments) then wait to submit a full proposal until the gallery has had a chance to reply. Sign up for our mailing list to receive any calls for entry here.

Ego Park Space

The gallery space at Ego Park is a postindustrial commercial space rehabilitated to provide a high quality exhibition environment. A glass storefront entrance provides natural light to augment the moveable installation lighting hung from the extra high ceilings. The rough square footage totaling 950 sq. feet includes approximately 150 linear feet of wall space. The space is flexible, accommodating a wide variety of installations, from large scale sculpture and video projection to individual artist “areas,” where intimate work can hold its own. A video flyby which can be used for planning installations is here.

The gallery is on 23rd Avenue at Telegraph, in close proximity to Esteban Sabar Gallery, Mama Buzz Cafe and Gallery, the Rock Paper Scissors Collective space, as well the Oakland musical mainstay, the Stork Club. Located a few blocks from the 19th St. BART station, it is within easy walking distance to downtown clubs and restaurants as well.

Please email info [at] egopark [dot] org for information on how to rent the space for private events.
